Dr. Barr graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Southern Connecticut State University in 2011. She received her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree, in the Family Nurse Practitioner track, from Quinnipiac University in 2018. She has experience caring for patients across the life span with her previous RN career working at Hartford Hospital and Connecticut Children's Medical Center. With a desire to become an integral part of the care for each patient, she continued her education to become a Board-Certified Nurse Practitioner providing primary, acute, and chronic care to patients of all ages. She has a strong passion for weight loss management, nutrition counseling, and orthopedic and musculoskeletal injuries.
She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, Eastern Nursing Research Society, National Black Nurses Association (NBNA), DNP’s of Color (DOC), and the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP). She is a recipient of the Elizabeth McGann Research Award and Benjamin and Juliette Trewin Award for professional leadership from Quinnipiac University.
Dr. Barr utilizes her knowledge and clinical skills to deliver compassionate, individualistic, and holistic care to her patients. She is aware of the gap in health care due to social disparities and hopes to make a strong effort to improve this in her community. She embraces alternative modalities alongside pharmaceuticals to promote health and healing for patients and their families. She values the concerns of her patients and makes a consistent effort to ensure they are satisfied with their plan of care by the end of their visit.
Dr. Ashley Mills has been practicing for 6 years as a Nurse Practitioner. She is an alumnus of Southern Connecticut State University, where she graduated in 2011 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. She started her career at Hartford Hospital, where she worked on a medical/surgical unit. She continued her nursing career working as a visiting nurse, offering medical care to sick individuals in their home. She continued her education, graduating from Quinnipiac University in 2018, earning a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree, in the Family Nurse Practitioner track.
Dr. Mills values her relationships with her patients and strives to deliver patient centered care. She has experience in primary care and weight loss management. She hopes to continue to impact the health of each patient she encounters, by incorporating evidence-based practice into her treatment plans.
She knows the importance of continuing education, in order to provide each individual with patient satisfaction. She is a member of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), DNP’s of Color (DOC), National Black Nurses Association (NBNA), and Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing.
